Satsang is a Sanskrit word that means "gathering together for the truth" or, more simply, "being with the truth." Truth is what is real, what exists. So all there is, is Truth. Whenever something increases your experience of the Truth, it opens your Heart and quiets your mind. This is what I point to in our meditations. Conversely, whenever something, such as a thought, fear, or judgment, arises, it has the potential to limit or narrow your experience of the Truth, and your Heart can contract and the mind gets busier and you move from a different level of consciousness. We are all equally endowed with this capacity to discriminate the Truth, I am just a guide to help point it out and in essence we are all just guides to help each other point it out. Thus, the true teacher, or satguru, is within you, and satsang, or being with the Truth, is endless. |
Meditation
A Slide To Silence - Integrating Vipassana, True Meditations from Adyashanti, Pranayama (breath control) and Pratyahara (withdraw of the senses), A Slide to Silence is a gentle guided meditation that places the participant in a relaxed state using parasympathetic breath and a soft awareness of the body. The meditations are similar session to session which enables the participant to become familiar with the technique and use it throughout their day and life as a method to connect to the silence and stillness that witnesses life. Classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:30pm to 1pm in downtown Kansas City. Feel free to contact me for location information.
Classes

The Desire of the Heart (90m)
The class consists of a short discussion on the topic and an introduction to two practices 1) SBR (stop, breathe, reflect) and 2) Reframing. From there a short lead pranayama (breath control) and meditation will be taught and from a place of stillness and silence, each participant will perform self inquiry with a specific energetic approach, and with specific, provided questions. The goal is for each participant to leave with 1) a deeper, visceral experience of the energy of the mind and heart and 2) Practices to enable a more organic life lived from the heart.

Acceptance, Compassion, Empathy - The Energies of Unconditional Love (90m)
The class consists of a short discussion and introduction of the topic. Simple questions will be posed for the student to investigate, viscerally, as-lived, with opportunity to share back with the group. From there a short lead pranayama (breath control) and meditation will be taught and from a place of stillness and silence, even deeper aspects of acceptance will be introduced including the concepts of "allowing" and "being". The participant may discover a unique blessing or prayer to ask for in their lives.

"In-life" examples will be provided to the student to enable them increase mindfulness and awareness of the states of ease, allowing and being. From there a short lead pranayama (breath control) and meditation will be taught and from a place of stillness and silence, even deeper aspects of allowing and being will be introduced pointing the student towards complete energetic balance and singularity. The participant may discover a unique blessing or prayer to ask for in their lives.
The Mirror of the Self (90m) - The class consists of a short discussion and introduction of the topic. A short lead pranayama (breath control) and meditation will be taught and from a place of stillness and silence I will guide you to uncover a few easily overlooked truths about how you experience reality. This participant may open up new awareness to their life and their profound ability to change and alter their view of what is occurring. We will explore meaning, ideas, beliefs and ultimately see much of what is happening is happening for us, from us, not too us.
